Operation Breakthrough donations due August 31st!
Note from Mary:
As you may or may not know, my 24 year old son Danny passed away suddenly in May of 2018. Danny was a funny, smart and social guy and a huge Chiefs fan! He enjoyed going to the games and tailgating with friends even those frigid December & January gamedays in Kansas City. In September of 2018, the idea was born to get all his friends together with my family at a Chiefs Tailgate in honor of Danny! We have held a tailgate every year since, but when the pandemic closed the stadium, we decided to hold our event at an outdoor event space. So in 2020, the fundraising portion of Danny's Tailgate began. We chose Operation Breakthrough and the Ignition Lab to focus our fundraising efforts (mostly because Travis Kelce is also involved) and since 2020 we have donated more than $15,000 directly to Operation Breakthrough and the Ignition Lab. I have attached information about this amazing organization and what they are doing for families in Kansas City.
The KC Cheer Booster Club holds a "give back" event every year for an organization in our community. This year I have asked them to help Danny's Tailgate in their fundraising efforts for Operation Breakthrough and they have agreed to offer their support.
Our fundraiser is held on the night before the tailgate and Chiefs game and Danny's friends and family come from all over the country to reconnect and remember their friend. The fundraiser consists of a silent auction and raffle and last year we had several gift card baskets that were a huge success at the raffle. For this reason, we are asking KC Cheer Booster Club members for a small monetary donation to go towards the purchase of larger denomination national brand gift cards for the raffle.
Donations can be made in cash to me at the gym, or through Venmo to the Booster Club. Make sure you add "Danny's Tailgate" to your transaction note.
KC Cheer and KC Cheer Booster Club are family to me and my family. And we truly appreciate any donation made to honor the memory of our son and brother, Danny.
