Jingle Bell Run 2016

jbrlogo2016.png

It's time for holiday fun again at KC Cheer! We will be participating as "Team Klew" in the Jingle Bell Run for Arthritis for the second year on Sunday, December 11.

Tie bells to your shoes, dress in your favorite holiday gear, and help us raise funds for our team to donate to the arthritis foundation. We're looking forward to gym-wide bonding during this fun holiday event for a good cause.

Together we can make a difference in the lives of more than 50 million Americans, including 300,000 children who deal with arthritis, which is the nation's #1 cause of disability. This is especially significant for our gym because a member of our staff is this year's Adult Honoree, and she faces the challenges of living with arthritis. By participating in this event, we can hope to make a difference in the lives of people like Coach Klew.

The Jingle Bell run is entirely underground, so it's nice and warm and perfect for a good workout. The course is flat, festive and fun with appearances from Santa Claus and Sluggerrr, and a holiday hallway filled with twinkling lights and decorations. There will be jugglers, magicians, a live DJ and much more.

To Register

  1. Visit the Jingle Bell Run Website, or click the button above
  2. Choose "join my team" to participate or "Donate Now" to just make a donation
  3. If you're formally joining the team you must click "I agree" and go through the registration process.
  4. The Whitneys have graciously offset registration costs for KC Cheer athletes as a special holiday gift. The code is in the email that was sent out gym-wide.

We encourage family members and friends to participate, but please save the discount code for KC Cheer athletes only.

PACKET PICK UP

*Friday (December 9) - 4p.m. to 7p.m. at the Arthritis Foundation office
*Saturday (December 10) - 1p.m. to 3p.m. at Meritex Executive Park
*Sunday (December 11) - 7a.m. at Meritex Executive Park

The Arthritis Foundation is at 1900 W. 75th Street, Suite 200, Prairie Village, KS. We're on the NW corner of 75th Street and State Line Road in the Capitol Federal building. Meritex Executive Park is at 17501 W. 98th Street in Lenexa, KS.

ATTIRE

All KC Cheer Athletes should wear their red KC Cheer tank tops! You’re welcome to add festive touches individually or as teams, too!  It really gets quite warm at this venue, so the sea of RED will be festive and climate appropriate!

EVENT - UPDATED 11/21/16

On Sunday, December 11 we will meet by Santa in the big green chair promptly at 8:15 a.m. for a gym-wide picture. Once you register, you’ll receive location and parking details.

We have recruited the most team members of any group at the event so far. With more than 122 team members, we have raised more than $3700. Be sure to keep reminding your friends and families to join us on this fun Sunday morning. We'd love to win the honor of top fundraising program of the year!

Coach Klew is the "adult honoree" this year. Her team (Fiesta) will be performing on stage at the Jingle Bell Run.

KC Cheer is part of the 2K Club, meaning we have raised more than $2,000. All members of the 2K club have full access to the VIP area on event day. This includes a full pancake breakfast by Chris Cakes. We'll also be represented on the Jingle Bell Run t-shirts that every participant receives.

All members of our team will have VIP wristbands in their goody bags that will give them access to the VIP area. PLEASE NOTE: only registered members of TEAM KLEW will have access to the VIP area, not family members who simply come to watch.

Following the event, we will meet gym-wide for yearbook signing and holiday cheer at KC Cheer gym. More details TBD

Any Questions?  Contact Melissa Ballard at 316-207-9093.  Happy JINGLING!

All parents who have not already attended a parent informational meeting must do so during the September evaluations. All information regarding meeting times can be found on the Cheer Prep Events Calendar

Our Cheer Prep program is a great way to introduce new athletes to the sport and provide an option that is a bit of a lower commitment than our allstar program. Allstar families, please pass this information along to anyone you think might be interested in joining the KC Cheer family through Cheer Prep!

2017 USASF Membership Registration

Please be sure to register your athlete for 2017 USASF Membership. This membership is required for your athlete to compete during the season. Every athlete must register for the 2017 season whether he/she is a new athlete or a returning athlete. Instructions on membership registration can be found under the all star forms section. Please be sure to follow the correct instructions. There is a form for new athletes and a form for returners.

If you have cheered before at another gym and this is your first year at KC Cheer, your profile has already been moved to the KC Cheer account. Please register as a returning member.

Help Send Fierce 5 to the Majors!

We need your help earning a spot for Fierce 5 in the Majors. The Majors is an extremely selective level 5 cheerleading competition held in Indianapolis in January. Only the best of the best are chosen to compete at the Majors.

Fierce 5 has recently been selected for the chance to be the 2017 "Majors Choice." The final spot in the competition is awarded to a team that is selected "by the fans" on social media (that's why there's a question mark on that red banner in the picture!)

Starting at 11:00 a.m. on July 18 until 5:00 p.m. on July 21, Fierce 5, Fame Super Seniors, California All Stars Black ops and Woodlands Elite Black Ops will be competing for the final spot via Twitter. Each team has been given an official hashtag, and the team whose hashtag gets used the most will earn the final spot.

Fierce 5's hashtag is #KCMAJORS17

This is where our KC Cheer family comes in. We need you all to tweet using that hashtag as many times as you can between now and July 21. Tell your friends to tweet and advertise on all of your social media accounts to send people to twitter to post using the hashtag.

Here are a few tips and rules to remember:

  • Tweets that have been "retweeted" or "quote tweets" do not count, they have to be original organic tweets from your account.
  • TWEETS THAT DO NOTHING BUT INCLUDE THE HASHTAG OVER AND OVER WILL GET SPAMMED OUT BY TWITTER
  •  You can tweet as many times as you want from your account and they will all be counted toward the total. So go ahead, blow up your timeline :)
  • The hashtag ONLY counts if it is spelled correctly, so make sure you have the right one!
  • We only get points for posts on TWITTER. So if you'd like to advertise on Facebook or Instagram, make sure you're telling people to go post on Twitter.
  • It doesn't matter what content is in the tweet for it to count, so long as the hashtag is included.
  • New to Twitter? If you set up an account, you can click the link below and it will give you a pre-written tweet that includes the hashtag. All you have to do is push send!

CLICK HERE FOR QUICK AND EASY TWEETING

(please note, per the official rules of the contest any profanity or negativity associated with our hashtag can result in disqualification from the contest)

If you have any questions at all you can email info@kccheer.com or ask Katie Lewis.
TELL EVERYONE YOU GUYS THIS IS GOING TO BE SO FUN!
